Outreach

Family Access program

All children deserve the opportunity to experience the museum regardless of their ability to pay. The Family Access program offers a range of options for families including 25-cent admissions, $5 annual memberships, outreach programming, group visits and Free Family Sundays.

Education Outreach: Mobile Exhibits and Programs

Have you spotted the colorful Madison Children’s Museum van in your neighborhood? It’s out and about Madison and south central Wisconsin bringing the magic of learning through play to preschools, schools and community events.

MCM’s outreach programs bring mobile exhibits and education programs to children and families as a way to connect more families into the museum, as well as a way to work toward reducing some of the barriers families face in participating at the museum.

Outreach Programs

Dig into Dinosaurs uses movement games and dramatic play, along with a re-created fossil bed to teach children about the lifestyles, behaviors and adaptations of dinosaurs. It also introduces them to paleontology and science theories through group puzzle solving and storytelling. Recommended for grades K-2.

World of Homes explores the topics of culture, geography and lifestyle and how they affect housing designs around the world while building a kid-size yurt. Recommended for grades preK-5.

Let’s Grow inspires an appreciation for how plants, especially food plants, grow through seed guessing, storytelling and dramatic play, with garden plots and a farmers’ market cart. Recommended for preschool and kindergartners.

For information about bringing a mobile museum experience to your school or community, contact Sandra Bonnici-Hoecherl, Outreach Coordinator, at 608.256.6445, ext. 12, or shoecherl@madisonchildrensmuseum.org. The program is made possible by generous underwriting support. Click here to download a pdf of the Outreach Booklet, “School & Community Connections”.
