This fun family workshop will begin with a guided tour of “Denis Sargent and Michael Velliquette’s” dual exhibition at the James Watrous Gallery on the third floor of the Overture Center. The focus will be on Velliquette’s beautiful and detailed cut paper. After the tour we will return to MCM, inspired to create our own unique cut paper images. There will be a variety of paper on hand to create cut paper images.

Collaborative workshop from the James Watrous Gallery and the MadisonChildren’s Museum
This fun family workshop will include a guided tour of “The Fine Art of Children’s Book Illustrations” at the James Watrous Gallery on the third floor of the Overture Center. The focus will be on how authors and illustrators come up with ideas. After the tour we will return to MCM, inspired to create our own unique 3D diorama to tell a story.
There will be a variety of materials on hand to create the dioramas.
Check in at the registration desk of the Children’s Museum prior to 1:00 to recieve you name tag. We will leave as a group from the museum and walk together to the James Watrous Gallery.

Join Project Grow (formerly known as JumpStart) in the program room to hear a fun story and then do a related art activity!

Participate in a shadow puppet workshop in which you will learn the history of shadow puppets, see a puppet show and make your own puppet!! Workshop will be led by shadow puppet expert Daniel Barash!

Several local groups will create and exhibit traditional shrines honoring the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). There will also be live traditional music and and food to sample.

Join us in the program room for some crafty Halloween fun!
We will be making magic wands, as well as cats and bats sock puppets!
