Communications Coordinator
This 20-24 hour/week position directs all marketing and public relations efforts for the museum. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of communication with the general public and the membership base across digital and print media, including email marketing, social media, and the quarterly newsletter. Media relations, promotion of museum events, and developing cross-promotions are a significant portion of the job, which also includes frequent copywriting and editing, and oversight of all printed materials. The Communications Coordinator will work with the museum’s marketing consultant firm to develop an annual advertising budget and marketing strategy, and utilize the External Relations task force in guiding the museum toward achievement of strategic plan goals. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication arts, marketing, business, or related field; at least two years of communications work experience; and strong writing, editing and organizational skills. Familiarity with local media is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience. Receptionist & Membership Assistant
We are hiring a Receptionist & Membership Assistant for the Development Department. Some of the main responsibilities for this position will be to manage our phones and provide support for Membership. Essential job duties include assisting in the administration of the membership program, serving as the museum receptionist and phone operator, and assisting in the administration of the Development Department.
Necessary Education or Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or work experience equivalent).
- Experience in customer service, sales, marketing, membership, or nonprofit management.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to develop productive relationships with members/donors/clients and internal staff.
- Excellent computer & technology skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Math skills sufficient to compare figures, calculate percentages, and to add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures.
Other Qualifications/Requirements:
- This is a Tuesday-Saturday position; occasional evening work is required.
