Science in a Box is a short, mobile “street theater” presentation by Fusion Science Theatre, a consortium of science and theater faculty, museum educators, and community theater artists.
February’s Science in a Box presentation is “The Boiling Point”, an interactive play about the change from liquid to gas. Boiling water is an everyday occurrence very familiar to the audience, but not many people know what is actually happening to water when it boils. “The Boiling Point” will clear up that mystery, once and for all!

Hmong at Heart Grand Opening

Our award winning exhibit Hmong at Heart returns from a ten-city national tour. Hmong at Heart invites visitors to experience the history and culture of the Hmong by exploring environments including a mountain-top Hmong village in Laos, a Thai refugee camp, and a contemporary Hmong-American home.
In celebration of the exhibit opening, Madison Children’s Museum presents a special performance by Hmong comedian Tou Ger Xiong. the free performance takes place at 2:10 pm at the Overture Center for the Arts International Festival: http://www.overturecenter.com/international.htm

The Safe Community Coalition of Madison and Dane County holds its annual family safety event at MCM. More than a dozen community agencies will be on hand to provide hands-on fun for kids and helpful information for parents on a wide range of topics, including safety tips for enjoying winter sports and cold weather.
